Medeama SC have moved to bolster their title defence and CAF Champions League campaign by signing centre-back Yaya Abdul-Rahman on a three-year contract following his departure from Karela United.
The Ghana Premier League champions have secured the 23-year-old on a free transfer after his contract with Karela United expired, adding one of the division’s most highly regarded young defenders to their squad.
Abdul-Rahman, who built a reputation at Karela United as one of the league’s most reliable centre-backs, is expected to go straight into contention for a place in Medeama’s backline as they prepare for another demanding season.
The defender is recognised for his calmness in possession, disciplined positioning and consistent performances, qualities Medeama believe will strengthen their defensive options as they aim to retain their domestic crown and compete on the continental stage in the CAF Champions League next season.
Fifth signing of busy window
Abdul-Rahman becomes Medeama’s fifth arrival of the current transfer window, underlining the club’s determination to refresh and deepen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
He follows Sudanese goalkeeper Monged Elneel Abuzaid Salman, as well as Dominic Amponsah, Emmanuel Boateng and Etse Dogli, in joining the Mauve and Yellow this close season.
