Union Berlin defender Derrick Kohn has reaffirmed his commitment to representing Ghana, drawing inspiration from senior national team figures as he continues his international journey.
The German-born full-back, who qualifies for Ghana through parentage, says wearing the Black Stars jersey remains a special honour he does not take lightly.
Kohn has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025/26 Bundesliga season with Union Berlin, performances that earned him consecutive national team call-ups.
The breakthrough finally arrived in November during the Kirin Challenge Cup, where he made his senior debut against Japan.
Kohn credits his motivation to long-time admiration for key figures in the Black Stars setup, particularly captain Jordan Ayew.
“I have been watching Jordan Ayew since growing up. I’ve been looking up to him and it’s nice to play with him.” he told Sporty FM.
Ghana have been drawn into Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside England, Croatia and Panama, with the tournament set to begin on June 11, 2026
