A superb first-half free-kick from Richard Kotey proved the difference as defending champions Bibiani GoldStars edged Hohoe United 1-0 at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Sunday in a Matchday 15 Ghana Premier League clash.

The Miners arrived in Hohoe under pressure, struggling for consistency and with a poor record on the road this season. Despite that, they displayed discipline and purpose to overcome a spirited Hohoe United side aiming to build on earlier home wins.

Hohoe began the game strongly, pressing high and controlling early possession. The hosts crafted a few half-chances but lacked the final touch, allowing GoldStars to gradually assert themselves.

The deadlock was broken in the 33rd minute. Following a foul just outside the box, Kotey stepped up and delivered a perfectly curled free-kick over the wall, leaving the Hohoe goalkeeper with no chance and sending the visiting supporters into celebration.

After taking the lead, GoldStars focused on defensive organisation, frustrating Hohoe’s attacking attempts and heading into the break with a slender advantage.

The second half saw Hohoe push forward in search of an equaliser, but the champions held firm, ensuring GoldStars left Hohoe with all three points.
