England Women’s head coach Sarina Wiegman expressed her frustration after the team’s 2-0 win over Ghana, stating,
“I would have loved that we scored a couple more goals tonight. We got enough opportunities to create, use chances and score goals.”
Wiegman felt her team dominated the game, hitting the woodwork four times, but ultimately couldn’t capitalize on their chances.
Despite the win, Wiegman was left wanting more, saying she was “a little bit frustrated” with England’s finishing.
Lucia Kendall scored her first Lionesses goal, and Alessia Russo sealed the win with a penalty in the 95th minute.
Wiegman praised her team’s performance, but emphasized the need for ruthlessness in front of goal.
