Texas State University celebrated a historic moment by lifting the Sun Belt Conference Tournament title after a narrow 1–0 victory against ULM and Ghana’s Helen Alormenu and Constance Agyemang were right at the heart of it.
Alormenu, ever reliable in the starting lineup, was tireless throughout the contest, helping her side control possession and limit ULM to only a few clear chances.
Agyemang also impressed with her movement and pressing, as the Bobcats dictated the pace under the lights at the Foley Sports Complex.
The breakthrough came early in the second half when Sadie Guzman raced onto a brilliant pass from Tsutsui, rounded the goalkeeper, and placed the ball into the far corner.
The goal sealed Texas State’s long-awaited championship.
The Bobcats pushed for a second, with Alormenu testing the opposition keeper twice in quick succession, but ULM held on to keep the scoreline respectable.
The victory sealed their return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011.
