Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito remains upbeat about his team’s chances of staging a comeback against Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup second-leg tie.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered their first defeat of the season at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Joseph Bakasu’s strike early in the second half gave Wydad a 1–0 advantage in the first leg of the playoff round.
Despite the setback, Zito believes his side has what it takes to turn the tie around when they visit Casablanca for the return leg.
“We’ve lost [the first leg], they [Wydad] can also lose there [in Morocco],” Zito told reporters after the game.
“There are certain situations in football that are not impossible but very difficult situations.
“We are now in a difficult situation but not impossible, so fans should be patient.”
Kotoko have already shown resilience on the road this season, notably defeating Kwara United 1–0 away in the previous round to progress 5–3 on aggregate.
Zito and his charges will now hope for a similar performance in Morocco to keep their Confederation Cup dream alive.
