Ghanaian youngster Taufik Seidu has been included in Atletico Madrid’s 22-man squad to face Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield.
The 18-year-old, a Ghana-born Spain youth international, travelled with Diego Simeone’s side on Tuesday and could make his debut in Europe’s elite competition tonight.
Seidu, who was promoted to the first team after impressing in the youth setup last season, joined his teammates in paying tribute to former player Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car crash in July, upon their arrival in England.
Atletico forward Antoine Griezmann highlighted the team’s motivation ahead of the clash: “We are excited to get going in the Champions League. It’s a competition that excites the players and the fans. Our expectations are high. It’s a tough competition but I think we can go far this season.”
The Rojiblancos will be hoping to make a strong statement against the English champions under the lights at Anfield.
