Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah says Ghana’s 2024 WAFCON campaign will only be considered successful if they win the tournament.
“[This tournament will only be successful for me] when we take the trophy,” she told Joy Sports. “I think we deserve it. I think we deserve the respect from African football.”
Ghana reached the WAFCON quarterfinals for the first time since 2016 after a commanding 4-1 win over Tanzania.
“I want to give this continent so much respect, but I also want to gain it. The only way you gain it is by performing, by showing who we are,” Boye-Hlorkah added. “So a successful tournament for me is taking home the only thing that you can take home — the trophy.”
The Black Queens face Algeria in the quarterfinals on Saturday, July 19, at the Berkane Stadium. Kick-off is at 17:00 GMT.
