Thomas Partey, the former Arsenal midfielder and Black Stars deputy captain, has denied all charges of rape and sexual assault leveled against him.
The Metropolitan Police Service charged him with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, allegedly committed between 2021 and 2022, involving two women.
Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, stated that her client denies all charges and has cooperated fully with the police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) throughout the three-year investigation.
“He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name,” Wiltshire said.
Given the ongoing legal proceedings, Partey is unable to comment further, his lawyer added, saying: “Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”
Partey is set to appear at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5 to face the charges.
His lawyer emphasized that he has been cooperative throughout the investigation and looks forward to clearing his name.
The case will proceed in court, where Partey’s defense will be heard.
