2025 Unity Cup: Jordan Ayew pleased with performances of new Ghana boys

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew praised the young players’ performances in the 2025 Unity Cup, where Ghana finished third. Ayew was impressed with the talents of Lawrence Agyekum, Mohammed Fuseini, and Razak Simpson, who scored their debut national goals in the 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.

The absence of experienced players gave younger talents a chance to shine, and they redeemed themselves after struggling in the semis. Ayew said, “It’s their chance. Other players couldn’t make it but Ghana has a lot of players. Some of the new players took their chance well. Ghana has a lot of players and everyone deserves a chance,” he said after the game.

Ayew’s own performance was stellar, scoring a curling effort and setting up two goals. The Unity Cup showcased Ghana’s depth and potential, and Coach Otto Addo may consider these young players for future matches, including the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Chad. The emerging talents have given Ghana a glimpse of a bright future, and their impressive performances will likely earn them more opportunities with the national team.
