Exclusive-Charles Allotey laments Hearts of Oak’s decline, cites loss of identity

Former Hearts of Oak star Charles Allotey has voiced his frustration over the club’s current state, blaming a lack of seriousness and discipline for the team’s continued decline.

Allotey, a key figure in the Hearts side that won the CAF Champions League in 2000, says the team’s current form is a far cry from the standards the club once upheld.

“The players themselves and the entire team setup have fallen off,” Allotey stated. “There’s a clear lack of seriousness on the pitch, and it’s hurting the club’s identity.”

He expressed particular disappointment in the team’s performance during the recent Super Clash against Asante Kotoko.

“Watching that game was disheartening,” he said. “Honestly, it’s something I would have rather not seen at all.”

For Allotey, the sharp decline in performance and attitude is at the heart of the club’s struggles.

“Hearts of Oak is not just any club; it’s a team with a rich history and identity. But right now, we’re a shadow of what we used to be. Until that seriousness returns, we will continue to struggle,” he warned.

Allotey’s comments shows where the club is now in current seasons, from battling relegation to turning to mid table
