Hamburg plan contract extension for Ghana’s Königsdörffer after promotion heroics

German side Hamburger SV are reportedly planning to hand Ghanaian striker Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer a new contract following his impressive performances in their promotion campaign.

The 23-year-old forward, whose current deal runs until June 2026, was a standout player for the club during the 2024/25 season, scoring 14 goals in 32 matches to help end their seven-year stay in the Bundesliga 2.

According to German outlet Kicker, club officials are eager to secure his long-term future and are working towards offering him an improved deal ahead of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season.

Königsdörffer played a key role in Hamburg’s late-season surge, including a brace in their emphatic 6-1 win over Ulm in their second-last match of the season.

His pace, finishing, and work rate have made him a vital part of the team under manager Merlin Polzin, who sees the Ghanaian as a major piece in their top-flight plans.

Though born in Germany, Königsdörffer chose to represent Ghana at international level and has earned four caps for the Black Stars so far.
