Black Satellites forward Emmanuel Mensah, has set his sights on clinching the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and earning a ticket to the U-20 World Cup.
Following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Senegal on Monday, the Black Satellites bounced back from an earlier 1-1 stalemate against DR Congo.
The crucial win propelled Ghana to second place in Group C with four points.
Mensah, who earned the Man of the Match award after the Senegal game, credited the team’s improved performance to their preparation. “We focused on sharpening our attack after missing opportunities in the first match,” he said. “Our goal is clear: qualify for the World Cup and win the AFCON.”
Ghana’s final group-stage match against the Central African Republic is set for Thursday in Ismailia. A victory or even a draw could secure the Black Satellites’ place in the quarterfinals.
