Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan scored twice to help Al Ain to complete a 5-2 rout of Emirates in the UAE top flight match played on Friday.
The Black Stars captain got in on the act just before recess after Michel Bastos, Mohanad Salem and Alex Brosque had given the Boss a 3-0 lead.
Emirates pulled one back seven minutes into the restart through Gustavo Herrera to quieten the home fans at the Tahnoun Bin Mohamed Stadium.
But Gyan restored Al Ain’s four-goal lead in the 68th minute haven finished off a neat move with the talented Omar Abdulrahman providing the final ball.
Herrera however struck again to complete the brace but was not enough to save his side from the comprehensive defeat by the champions.
Gyan’s brace took his season tally to eight and now within a goal of leading scorer Grafite after eight games in the Arabian Gulf League.
