GFA aims to rebuild Black Stars into African powerhouse – Henry Asante

Spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, says the FA is working tirelessly to restore the Black Stars to the top of African football.

Following Ghana’s disappointing failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations without a single win in the qualifiers, the national team has begun to show signs of resurgence.

The Black Stars recently bounced back with two dominant wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, thrashing Chad 5-0 at home and beating Madagascar 3-0 away.

“We want to try as much as possible to continue our rebuilding process, to continue the effort in making the team one of the best on the continent,” Henry told the Ghana FA media.

“It will not come easy, it will come with a lot of friendlies, a lot of engagements, a lot of competitive matches and what have you.”

“Luckily, we received this proposal [Unity Cup] from Afro Sports [UK-based match agency] and then we expressed interest in it.”

“We are not overly concerned about results. We are concerned about our team building agenda,” Henry added.

The four-time African champions are expected to take part in a four-nation Unity Cup tournament in May, alongside Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Nigeria.
