Hearts of Oak’s struggles persisted on Wednesday, as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nations FC at the Tuba Astroturf.

The match marked the Phobians’ first outing at their temporary home, due to ongoing renovations at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The first half ended goalless, with neither side able to find the back of the net.

However, the deadlock was broken in the 57th minute, as Black Stars defender Razak Simpson capitalized on a defensive error, unleashing a powerful volley that secured the win for Nations FC.

Despite the setback, Hearts of Oak intensified their attack, but the Nations FC defense held firm, denying the Phobians goal scoring opportunities.

As the final whistle blew, Hearts of Oak’s disappointment was tangible with the defeat marking their fourth consecutive match without a win.

The loss piles pressure on coach Aboubakar Ouattara, while also seeing the Phobians fall further behind league leaders Asante Kotoko, who now enjoy an eight-point advantage.

In contrast, Nations FC’s victory propels them back into the top four, as they continue to impress in their campaign.
