Swedish coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has arrived in Ghana to take up his role as the new head coach of the Black Queens.
The 43-year-old was greeted by officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) upon his arrival on Wednesday evening.
Bjorkegren takes over from Nora Hauptle, who departed to coach the Zambian women’s national team after her contract with Ghana ended.
Bjorkegren’s first challenge will be a friendly match against Morocco next week in Casablanca. He will also lead the team’s preparations for the rescheduled 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), slated for July.
The Swedish tactician’s primary goal is to guide the Black Queens beyond the group stage in the upcoming tournament.
