President John Dramani Mahama is tasking Sports Minister Kofi Adams to restore Ghana’s lost glory in sports, particularly focusing on building up all sporting disciplines.

Mahama emphasized the importance of transparency, professionalism, and modernity in managing the sports sector.

Mahama specifically mentioned the Ghana Football Association as a good starting point, with the goal of returning the Black Stars to their glory days.

This comes as no surprise after the four times African champions failed to secured qualifications to the 2025 African Cup of Nations slated for Morocco.

“The Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, I don’t envy your job. You have the monumental task of restoring Ghana to its pride of place in African and world sports.

“The shambles that is Ghana sports today is unacceptable. For a country with our pedigree and I expect that you inject transparency, professionalism, and modernity into the management of the sector.

“I expect that you will concentrate on building all the sports disciplines and I know the Ghana Football Association will be a good place to start to work to make sure that we return Black Stars to its glory days,” President John Dramani Mahama said.

Kofi Adams takes over from Mustapha Ussif, who served as Sports Minister from 2021 to 2024 under the NPP administration.
