Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Manifesto Committee, Nana Akomea, has called on the Ghana Football Association to maintain Black Stars coach Otto Addo despite calls for his sacking.

Addo, who signed a 34-month deal to coach Ghana earlier this year, superintended Ghana’s worst performance in an AFCON qualifying series after finishing bottom of Group F with three points.

The Black Stars also failed to qualify fof the continental showpiece for the first time since 2004.

“I don’t think we should get into a panic mode yet. I know there is widespread calls for the coach to be relieved of his (duties),” Akomea said.

“Listen, we have the World Cup qualification ahead of us. I believe we should maintain the coach to take us through the qualification series.”

While many have called for his exit, Akomea argued that such reactions have not helped Ghana in the past.

“Any sign of trouble, we change the coach to bring in another coach and then we get into trouble again.”

“So I believe we should maintain the coach to lead us into the qualifiers. If that one too, we end the cycle without qualification, then we can take a decision.”

Otto Addo’s fate will be determined on 27th November by the Ghana Football Association
