Former Ghana Football Association Vice President George Afriyie has thrown his support behind embattled Black Stars coach Otto Addo, despite the team’s disappointing performance in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars have struggled in the qualifiers, failing to win any of their four matches and collecting only two points from a possible twelve.

Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola in Kumasi, drew 1-1 with Niger in Morocco, played out a goalless draw with Sudan in Accra, and suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sudan in Libya.

“I am not one of those who will say we have to sack Otto. We have to keep faith with him and make sure that he continues the process he has started because remember we still have the World Cup qualifiers,” George told Joy Sports

“We have to give him the needed support. Going forward in this Afcon [qualifiers], let’s accept that we are out and allow Otto to take his decisions and learn on the job and then we move forward.”

With the recent defeat against Sudan, the Black Stars must win their final two AFCON qualifying matches in November and hope Sudan drops points in order to stand a chance of securing a spot in Morocco.
