Former Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has disagreed with claims that Kwesi Appiah’s dual role as head coach of Sudan and Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association leads to conflict of interest.
The issue arose after Ghana and Sudan were drawn in Group F of the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Sannie dismissed concerns of conflict of interest, suggesting that Appiah can recuse himself from relevant discussions to maintain transparency.
“I don’t see the issue that people have been raising. There’s always a case where people can recuse themselves from such discussion and it should be a straight forward case,” he said in an interview with JoySports.
“Kwasi Appiah being there in charge of Sudan and also being in the Exco will add a lot of good to Ghana football.
“The learning experiences he will have in Sudan, he will bring it back as a Ghanaian to impact on Ghana football. If there are any issues of conflict of interest, he can recuse himself from those meetings”
The African Cup of Nations qualifier will kick off in September.
