If I’d to draw together my perfect day, it’d probably go like this: Wake up about half-past eleven. Strong start.

Then nip down to the local café and get an eggs benedict. Then head over to the shop and grab the paper, only to realise I’ve found a tenner in my pocket. It’s also the week of Cheltenham and there’s Champions League footy on as well.

Okay, to be clear, I’m woken up every single morning by 7am, my local café would laugh me out of there if I asked for a poached egg, and I wear these pants every day. The only thing I’d be surprised to find in there is a pleasant odour.

But the latter pairing is bang on. What a magical Wednesday, folks.

I know you’re laughing at me here, but given I’m from about ten minutes out the road from JP McManus’ house, I assure you, the vibes on this one are something else.

Normally the big man himself will just buy the best bloody horses before Cheltenham if he feels he doesn’t have a good thing, but poor Tony Mullins himself reckons this horse could go and win a Gold Cup now as a novice, let alone a less-than-competitive three miler out of open company.

He’s the only banker of the Cheltenham Festival in my book, bar State Man, and any price you can get about him is good enough.

Stay Away Fay might need another mile and a half-foot of rain to get within ten lengths of this fella.

When they’re all clinging to Alan King’s Edwardstone as key opposition to a horse, you know you’re in bother. Apparently, him going from the front is an incredible new tactic and all of sudden going to turn him into a 175-rated chaser. Sure.

He’ll fire along, then realise he’s not gone hard enough to fend off El Fabiolo despite hitting every fence on the way over, and then he’ll press go and the service light will come on. Jonbon will be looking for the oxygen tank and the rest would be better off in the Grand Annual.

There was a time where this would have been a competitive affair. But there was also a time where Dawn Run could win a Gold Cup, so.

It’s not that Atleti are particularly bad, it’s more that Inter are the most functional side in Serie A, and from what you saw in the first leg, there isn’t really a pattern of play where the hosts can break them down.

Given a Simeone side needs to go for it, this is totally off-script and Inter picking up a win in 90 minutes look like the value play of the week.

Under 2.5 Goals

In saying that, I’d not be tuning in for swashbuckling entertainment. Neither one of these will want to extend themselves and will leave the decision lie in the margins, undoubtedly.

Both managers will be happy for a single moment to decide the fate of this tie, and I’ve already nailed my colours to the mast.

This is the first time in two decades that PSV should be considered one of the best sides in Europe. And they’ve got genuinely talented footballers to boot.

Their domestic record is the best in all of Europe, having won 22 of their 25 games, and drawing the other three.

They do not lose.
