Bofoakwa Tano come from behind to hold Hearts of Oak

Bofoakwa Tano came from behind to draw with Accra Hearts of Oak at the WAFA Park in Sogakope on Monday.

Salifu Ibrahim opened the scoring for Hearts of Oak inside 23 minutes, with a tenacious shot to beat Cisse Tijani in post for Bofoakwa Tano at the near post. The Phobians dominated the first half and could have added to the tally but Cisse Kassim and Issah Kuka missed their chances as they went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

After the interval, Bofoakwa Tano stretched the home side in the opening 10 minutes of the half and managed to level matters through Emmanuel Agyenim Boateng in the 55th minute. The goal swung things in favor of the visitors as they grew in confidence and took the game to Hearts of Oak holding firm not to concede another goal.

Accra Hearts of Oak remain in eighth place, seven points adrift of leaders FC Samartex going into the next game against Dreams FC.  The former champions are unbeaten in three games since Aboubakar Ouattara took office – leading them to back to back victories against Real Tamale United and Nsoatreman FC.

Bofoakwa Tano, will see the result as a boost in their fight against relegation having gone winless since November 5, 2023 when they beat Nations FC 1-0 at the Coronation Park in Sunyani. The returnees currently occupy the 17th place in the League log with 20 points – only two points richer than bottom placed Real Tamale United.
