Asante Kotoko have progressed to the last 16 of the MTN FA Cup after securing a 1-0 victory against Gold Stars at the Duns Park.

Peter Amidu emerged from the bench in the 53rd minute and broke he deadlock few minutes after to put the Porcupines ahead.

The visitor’s came at a cost as John Tedeko who received a second booking in injury time was sent off.

Steven Mukwala could have made the victory quite but spurn his effort in the 28th minute by failing to capitalize on a chance and hitting the side-net.

Kotoko are however through to the next round and have their hopes of a double intact – three points behind league leaders Samartex.

Up next for Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side is a Premier League clash against Heart of Lions.
