Inter Milano vs Sampdoria Preview 22/05/2022

1441

On Sunday evening, reigning Italian champions Inter hosts Sampdoria at the Giuseppe Meazza, in a vital game in the fight for the Serie A title.

Inter

The Nerazzurri are up against it to retain their Italian crown. Simone Inzaghi’s team are two points behind league leaders and arch-rivals Milan going into gameweek 38. However, Milan has the superior head-to-head record, so the Rossoneri only needs a point at Sassuolo to clinch the Scudetto.

Inter head into this clash in good form, as they are unbeaten in four games in all competitions, having recorded three wins in normal time and a victory in extra-time in the process.

In Serie A, the home team has won seven of their last eight matches, having scored at least two goals in each of the victories.

Inter are also unbeaten in their last five home matches in Serie A, recording four wins and a draw while scoring at least twice in all four recent home victories.

Sampdoria

The Blucerchiati can head into this game with little pressure after securing their top-flight status. Sampdoria have endured a season to forget and everybody associated with the club will now be looking to the summer.

Marco Giampaolo’s team has won just two of their last seven matches in Serie A. However, a 4-1 home win over Fiorentina in their last league outing coupled with other results meant that Samp’s top-flight status was safe for another season.

Sampdoria have struggled to pick up results on their travels in Serie A, winning just one of their last ten away games in the Italian top-flight. They have also lost seven of their last nine away games in Serie A.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that Inter will record a victory in a high-scoring encounter. However, the Nerazzurri know that not even a win is enough to guarantee them a second straight Italian title.
