Medeama SC faced their second consecutive defeat within a week, succumbing to a 1-0 loss against Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Seeking a comeback from their previous defeat to Berekum Chelsea at home, the mauve and yellows fell short in their efforts.
Under pressure due to a recent inconsistent performance, Asante Kotoko secured their last Premier League win on October 13 against Aduana FC.
In response to the challenges, Dr. Prosper Narteh-Ogum implemented six changes to the squad, with Frederick Asare, Justice Blay, Sherif Mohammed, Richmond Lamptey, Nurudeen Mohammed, and Steven Mukwala earning starting positions for the Reds.
Despite an early goal by Medeama in the 33rd minute, Kamaradini’s effort was ruled offside. Asante Kotoko, fueled by determination, intensified their efforts in the second half.
Their breakthrough came on the hour mark when Georges Mfegue was fouled in the box. Sherif Mohammed capitalized on the opportunity, driving the ball into the bottom corner to secure the sole goal of the game.
Sherif ‘s goal gives Asante Kotoko their first win in six games – moving them to the 12th spot in the League log with 13 points.
