Confederations of African football has unveiled the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifications format.
For the first time, Africa will have nine straight slot for the global event.
Top finishers of the nine groups in the qualifiers will secure automatic qualification to the World Cup.
The four best second-placed teams would participate in a playoff with the winner facing a CONCACAF zone for a chance to secure a tenth spot.
The qualification process is scheduled to take place from November 2023 to November 2025.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be held in summer at America, Mexico and Canada as co-hosts of the tournament.
