Everton vs Tottenham – 03/04/2023

Spurs ready to pile more pressure on lowly Everton

948

Tottenham Hotspur will begin life without Antonio Conte when they face Premier League strugglers Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night.

Interim head coach Christian Stellini will be in charge until the end of the season at Spurs, who sit fourth in the table – two points inside the Champions League places.

At the opposite end of the standings, Everton find themselves 15th – two points outside the relegation zone and three points clear of bottom club Southampton.

That said, the Toffees head into Monday’s clash on a three-game unbeaten run, having taken five points from a possible nine since their last loss.

After drawing 2-2 with Nottingham Forest, Sean Dyche’s side claimed a 1-0 victory over Brentford before holding Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

When you look at the bigger picture, however, Everton have only managed to win six of their 28 league outings this season, recording eight draws and 14 losses.

It is also worth noting that Everton are the joint-lowest scorers in the division, having netted just 22 goals this term.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, they parted ways with Antonio Conte following a run of one win in five matches across all competitions.

Spurs found themselves 3-1 up at Southampton before the international break, only to draw 3-3, leading to the departure of Conte.

Still, Tottenham find themselves in a strong position, as only Arsenal and Manchester City have picked up more Premier League wins than Spurs this season.

The North Londoners are also the third-highest scorers in the division, having netted 52 goals in 28 outings this term (1.9 goals per game).

Head-to-head: Tottenham Hotspur have avoided defeat in each of their previous five meetings with Everton across all competitions, winning 5-0 and 2-0 in 2022.

To make matters worse for the Toffees, they have only managed to win one of their last 21 matches against Tottenham.

Team news: Andros Townsend remains absent for Everton, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a doubt for Monday’s showdown due to injury.

Tottenham’s injury list contains Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Ben Davis and Emerson Royal, while Ivan Perisic, Hugo Lloris and Richarlison are doubts for Monday.

Although Everton have improved under Dyche, Spurs look destined to enjoy a bounce following the departure of the somewhat troublesome Conte.

Forebet predicts Tottenham Hotspur will make light work of Everton, with the visitors expected to score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet en route to victory.
