Having sealed a 1-0 victory at the Parc des Princes three weeks ago, Bayern Munich hold the advantage over Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the second leg of their last-16 clash in the Champions League.

Bayern and PSG will renew acquaintances at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, with Kingsley Coman’s goal the only thing separating the two sides.

The German giants dominated the first leg, racking up 18 shots while enjoying the majority of possession. Can the Parisians turn the tide in Bavaria?

Since the first leg, Bayern Munich have taken six points from a possible nine in the Bundesliga, losing to Borussia Monchengladbach before beating Union Berlin and Stuttgart.

As a result, Julian Nagelsmann’s side find themselves joint-top of the Bundesliga table with Borussia Dortmund, having lost just two of their 23 matches this season.

It is also worth noting that Bayern have only lost one of their last 17 Champions League games, avoiding defeat in each of their previous eight UCL home matches.

Having claimed seven straight Champions League wins – and three consecutive UCL clean sheets – the German giants will be confident of advancing on Wednesday.

On the flip side, Paris Saint-Germain have secured three successive league wins since the first leg, thrashing Lille (4-3), Marseille (3-0) and Nantes (4-2).

The Parisians now find themselves eight points clear at the summit of the Ligue 1 standings, having lost just three of their 26 encounters this term.

PSG enjoyed an unbeaten Champions League group-stage campaign, notching four wins and two draws to finish joint-top of Group H with Benfica, knocking out Juventus in the process.

Given that Kylian Mbappe has bagged seven goals and three assists in seven UCL games this season, PSG will always stand a chance of damaging Bayern’s qualification hopes.

Head-to-head: Bayern and PSG have faced each other six times in the Champions League between 2017 and 2023, with Bayern claiming four wins and PSG winning twice.

It is also worth pointing out that Bayern Munich have registered three 1-0 victories across their previous four meetings with PSG.

Team news: Bayern Munich remain without long-term injury absentees Manuel Neuer and Lucas Hernandez, while Noussair Mazraoui is a doubt for Wednesday.

PSG forward Neymar will miss the rest of the season following ankle surgery, while Presnel Kimpembe, Achraf Hakimi and Renato Sanches will also miss Wednesday’s clash.

When you assess the results of Bayern and PSG’s clashes in recent years, all the signs point towards another low-scoring win for the German outfit.

Forebet predicts that Bayern Munich will net under 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
