‘I don’t complain, I just want to play’ – Alidu Seidu explains trick behind his versatility

Clermont Foot defender, Alidu Seidu, says being played in different positions does not worry him because all he cares about is enjoying his football.

At the club level, the player has been given varying roles such as playing as a full-back, as a central defender and sometimes as a defensive midfielder.

In the national team, Seidu has adjusted to the centre-back and right-back positions under Otto Addo, a quality of his that makes him stand out.

Speaking about being versatile, the 22-year-old revealed he has been used in a lot of positions because he never complains and just wants to play football.

“It is true, I am able to play a lot of positions on the pitch. As a player, all I always say to myself is to do what the coach demands from me when I am on the pitch,” he said on Joy Sports’ Star Connect.

“When you tell me to play right-back, I will do my best, centre-back – I give my best for the team and myself.

“For me [the motive] is to play football and enjoy so whenever the coach tells me to go and play as the striker I will always give my best because I like football.

“I don’t complain about [this or that] not being my position so I can’t play here. I just want to play.”

Since breaking into the first team at Clermont, Seidu has been a regular feature in the club’s starting line-up and has also won the hearts of many fans after his initial appearances for the Black Stars.
