Agyemang had been hoping to play again in a two weeks from now but was given the go ahead to play competitive action earlier this week before playing 20 minutes in a Qatar Super League game against Algaraf which his club Al Saad lost by a lone goal.
A delighted Opoku told KickOffGhana.com he is relieved to be back playing again. “It’s been a long and at time painful eight months so it’s a huge relief to have been able to play again. Now I hope I can build on that over the next few weeks and work my way to the very highest level again.”
The hardworking midfielder was almost certain to make Ghana’s 2010 World Cup squad until he tore anterior cruciate ligaments in February. He had won Ghanaian hearts with his tireless running down the flanks at the 2010 Nations Cup and will now be seeking to regain his place in the side after his injury pain.
