Paintsil’s knee injury has robbed Ghana of vital experience in defence but Inkoom says he will be more than happy to have that role as Ghana goes in search of its fifth title at the tournament.
“It is a shame that John is not here because he brings a lot of experience and the whole team wishes him a speedy recorvery and the best of luck,” he tells KickOffGhana.com.
Inkoom is the most likely candidate for the right back slot in the absence of Paintsil and having had a superb 2009 when he earned at least four caps and made a smooth transition from Ghana to become a regular at Swiss side Basle, the defender is not short on confidence.
“I have had a good time at club level and thankfully I have been with the Black Stars and played a few games so I am really looking forward to the Nations Cup.
“The squad may be light on experience, but we are going to Angola confident and hungry for success. There is a really good feeling in this squad that it will be a really good tournament.”
