Duah’s record in Ghana

Duah has led the Ghana Tennis Federation since 2017. His tenure has focused on inclusive governance, engagement with stakeholders and expanding the sport’s development in Ghana.

A key part of his administration has been the campaign to recognise players, coaches, officials and clubs as delegates to the Federation’s highest decision-making body. The move has given those groups a formal voice in the running of Ghanaian tennis.

He has also encouraged greater cooperation between the Federation, tennis clubs and foundations through an open-door policy. That approach has supported the organisation of internationally recognised World Tennis competitions.

During his leadership, Ghana has continued to compete in West African junior events for the past nine years. The country has also achieved notable results in African Under-12 competitions and maintained its participation in the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup.

Duah is additionally a member of the African Cup of Nations Sub-Committee of Tennis Africa, where he contributes to the sport’s development at continental level.

Priorities for African tennis

After his election, Duah thanked members for their confidence and said he would work to advance unity, collaboration and inclusive leadership within African tennis.

His stated priorities include strengthening national federations, developing players and officials, attracting investment and creating sustainable opportunities for the next generation of African players.

He also stressed the need for close cooperation with the 15 West African member countries and other stakeholders. That collaboration, he said, would help improve governance and increase the competitiveness of African tennis internationally.

Academic and professional background

Alongside his work in sports administration, Duah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), an Executive Master of Business Administration, a Master of Arts in Leadership and Management, and a Chartered Marketer qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.

He attended Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in Koforidua for his secondary education.

His election represents a significant step for Ghanaian sports administration and gives Ghana an opportunity to play a stronger role in the future development of tennis across Africa.

The Ghana Tennis Federation has congratulated its president and said it is confident he will continue contributing to the growth of tennis at national and continental levels.
