The Ghana Premier League will offer a total prize package of GH₵9.5 million for the 2026/27 season, while all 18 participating clubs will receive GH₵1 million each before the campaign begins.
The financial support, arranged as part of the Ghana Football Association’s efforts to strengthen competition and assist clubs, is intended to help teams prepare for the new season and manage their operations.
The champions will receive GH₵3 million at the end of the campaign. The runners-up will be awarded GH₵1 million for finishing second.
There will also be financial rewards for the other two clubs in the top four. The side finishing third will collect GH₵800,000, while the team in fourth place will earn GH₵750,000.
Alongside the league’s prize money, each of the 18 participating clubs will be given GH₵1 million before the start of the season. That payment will provide support as clubs organise their preparations and meet the operational demands of competing in Ghana’s top-flight competition.
The package represents a significant increase in financial backing for the league and its clubs. It combines rewards based on final league position with a guaranteed payment for every team taking part in the 2026/27 campaign.
The champions stand to receive the largest individual prize, with the GH₵3 million award reserved for the club that finishes at the top of the table. The GH₵1 million prize for second place gives the runners-up a substantial return, while the payments for third and fourth ensure that all of the leading four clubs receive additional recognition.
For the remaining teams, the GH₵1 million pre-season allocation will offer direct financial assistance regardless of where they finish in the league. Every participating club will therefore receive the same advance support before competitive action gets under way.
The Ghana Premier League’s financial structure for the coming season is designed to provide clubs with both immediate assistance and an incentive to compete for the highest positions. The guaranteed funding is intended to help with preparations and operations, while the prize money offers further rewards for success in the league standings.
With the champions, runners-up and the rest of the top four all receiving separate awards, the package places added value on final league position. At the same time, the payment to all 18 clubs ensures that the benefits are not limited to the teams competing at the top of the table.
The measures will support participating clubs as they prepare for the upcoming campaign and compete for honours in Ghana’s leading domestic league.
