Ghana women’s internationals Abdulai Mukarama and Philomena Abakah have joined Turkish Super Lig side Unye Kadın FK ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The attacking pair are taking on a new challenge in Turkey as they continue their professional careers abroad. Both players bring experience from Ghanaian football, African competitions and clubs outside the continent.
Mukarama has emerged as one of Ghana’s most promising attacking players after coming through the country’s youth national-team system. The Tamale-born forward started her career with Northern Ladies FC before attracting wider attention through appearances for the Black Maidens and Black Princesses.
Her progress led to a move to Spanish club Deportivo Alaves. Mukarama later returned to Ghana and joined Hasaacas Ladies, where she continued to make an impression with her ability in the final third.
She has also represented the Black Queens at senior international level, adding national-team experience to a career that has already taken her across several football environments.
Available club statistics show that Mukarama scored three goals and supplied four assists in nine appearances during her time with Hasaacas Ladies. Those figures underlined her contribution as both a goalscorer and creator.
Abakah began her career with Berry Ladies before moving abroad to Tanzanian giants Simba Queens. She subsequently featured for Ampem Darkoa Ladies, building further experience in Ghana’s domestic game.
The forward has also played for clubs outside Ghana, including Serbian side Crvena zvezda and Indian team Kickstart/Sreebhumi. Those spells have added to her international club background and broadened her experience of different footballing environments.
At international level, Abakah has been recognised by the Black Queens. She made her senior Ghana debut in 2022 and remains one of the country’s notable attacking prospects.
Their arrival gives Unye Kadın FK two Ghanaian forwards with experience of youth and senior international football, domestic competition in Ghana and club football overseas. The move represents another important stage in both careers as they seek to establish themselves in Turkish women’s football.
Mukarama and Abakah will also continue to represent Ghana on the international stage while adapting to their new club surroundings in Turkey. Their transfers underline the next step in professional careers that have already included football in Ghana, Africa, Europe and India.
