Dreams FC head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has endorsed Kwesi Appiah to remain in his position at the Ghana Football Association, dismissing calls for him to step down due to potential conflict of interest ahead of the African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Black Stars.
Zito’s support comes after demands for Appiah to relinquish one of his roles following the draw that placed Ghana and Sudan in Group F.
In an interview with Graphic Sports, Zito expressed his belief that Appiah should be allowed to execute his duties without unnecessary interference, trusting his ability to manage any potential conflicts effectively.
“For me I am behind Kwasi hundred per cent, he should keep quiet and do his job, if he is able to beat us, fine and if we also beat him fine.’’
“People are talking about Kwesi Appiah but I don’t see why they should be talking about him. Those in the ExCo, are they not having clubs? Kwasi is a professional coach and the ExCo doesn’t pay him.
“The ExCo knew Kwasi was still in coaching and yet they allowed him to stand election which he won before he had this opportunity,” he said.
Appiah’s Sudan will engage the Black Stars in the AFCON qualifiers which kick s off in September.
