Nigeria’s Super Eagles have secured a spot in the 2025 AFCON semi-finals, defeating Algeria 2-0 in the quarter-finals.
The Eagles will now face hosts Morocco in the semi-finals, after Morocco beat Cameroon 2-0 in their quarter-final match.
The match against Algeria was a tightly contested affair, with Nigeria’s attacking firepower ultimately proving too much for the Algerian defense.
Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman were instrumental in Nigeria’s victory, with Lookman being arguably the tournament’s best player so far.
Algeria had conceded just one goal in four matches prior to this game, but Nigeria’s potent attack proved too strong.
Osimhen scored the first goal before setting up Akor Adams for Nigeria’s second goal.
The Eagles’ next challenge is against Morocco, who will be looking to win the tournament on home soil.
