The Executive Council member representing women’s football, Mrs Gifty Oware Mensah, has said Ghana and particularly the executive council of the football governing body is proud of Ampem darkoa despite losing out on the bronze medal.

Ghana’s sole representative at the CAF women’s champions league were beaten 2-0 by defending champions, As Far, but losing out of the medal zone and this the astute administrator believes is unfortunate but remarkable given this was the club’s first time and the GFA back home is equally proud of their exploits.

Speaking to the playing body and top brass of the club yesterday, Mrs Oware Mensah stressed on the Association’s appreciation and satisfaction for their relentless effort.

“The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association is very proud of you as a team and for even being a part of the last four teams here in Ivory Coast,” she begun.

“We all wished we could have gone home with the bronze medal to show for our efforts, but we still do appreciate the attempt and very proud of you all,” she added.

The only female on the GFA executive council joined the team in Ivory Coast representing the mother body and urged the team to continue with their great display of talents back home since they remain Ghanaian champions and could return to the African stage.

“Let’s go back home and continue with the good work and hopefully return next year. It has been a great exposure, and remember, you are still Ghanaian champions, “she emphasized.

Ampem Darkoa managed two wins out of the five games they played at the 2023 Caf Women’s Champions League and finished 4th in the process.
