The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has appointed DR Congo elite referee Jean-Jacques Ndala Ngambo to steer affairs when Ghana hosts Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers next month.

The Black Stars – top of Group E and tied on 4 points with the Palancas Negras after the opening two matches – have the game scheduled for 16:00 GMT kickoff at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

Ndala Ngambo was the centre referee for the 2021 Caf Super Cup match between Al Ahly and Raja Club Athletic which was held in Doha, Qatar. He also served as an official at the 2021 Afcon in Cameroon last year.

In Kumasi, the 35-year-old will be leading a quartet from his home country DR Congo – with

Olivier Kabene Safari as Assistant I, Nabina Blaise Sebutu as Assistant II and Malala Kabanga Yannick as the Fourth Official.

Sanusi Mohammed from Nigeria has been named the Match Commissioner while Latré-Kayi Edzona LawsonHogban from immediate neighbours Togo plays the role of Referee Assessor.

Ghana will need a win in order to maintain their position at the top of Group E as they will face Angola again in a reverse fixture in Luanda four days later.

The game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will be the first under newly appointed Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.
