Luis Suarez has declared that he will not join River Plate after they were eliminated from the Copa Libertadores.
Suarez, a veteran striker was linked to a move to River after he was released by Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
Former Barcelona striker was eager to join River Plate and was inspired by the chance to compete for the Libertadores title.
River, on the other hand, was eliminated from South America’s top club competition on Wednesday after a home draw with Velez Sarsfield in the last 16, a 1-0 defeat in total.
“I was very happy that I could go to River and fight for the Copa Libertadores,” he said.
“It was a dream that I had to win the cup in South America. With River being released, that could probably disappear,”
“If I can think and be happy about the River being possible, the same thing will happen to Nacional, who has been my home,”
“It amazes me that the Nacional leaders have never called me to find out my status,” he added.
“A month and a half ago, I announced that I would not be leaving Europe,” he said. “But River insisted and insisted so much that I thought about it, and it was possible,”
“As someone says something, when the time comes, you will consider it. He‘s glad they love you so much,”
“The player needs love. River would have given it to me, and Nacional would have tried that,” he concluded.
