Cameroon football legend Roger Milla, believes that the 2022 FIFA World Cup is a great opportunity for African football to shine on the biggest stage.
No side from the continent has ever made it past the quarter-finals, with Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002) and most recently Ghana (2010) knocked out in the last eight – all after extra time or penalties.
Speaking in an interview with BBC, 70 year-old Milla who holds the record as the oldest player, at 42, to score at FIFA World Cup, insists the tournament in Qatar is another chance for Africa to showcase its talent.
“Now is a good time to show that Africa has the best football players and the best teams in the world,”
Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco and Tunisia will be Africa’s representatives at the latest edition which kicks off on November 20.
