Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah says he is hoping to see what Cristiano Ronaldo will do when they face off at the 2022 World Cup.
The Bordeaux left-back was part of the Black Stars team that secured qualification to the Qatar World Cup after beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the playoff.
The 23-year-old played one of his best games for the senior national football team in the first leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which ended goallessly.
Mensah who played in Portugal last season for Vitoria Guimaraes said he is excited to be facing Ronaldo at the highest level in World football.
“I am looking forward to facing Ronaldo. I haven’t had the opportunity to play against him at the club level yet, but now I have the opportunity to face him at the highest level in the World Cup.
“When I played against Lionel Messi it was really difficult because he is special. Messi made my hip hurt after a dribble in Paris, but I want to see what Ronaldo will try to do to me. Maybe it could be what I’m going to do to Ronaldo instead… The only sure thing is to make him run”, said the side, in statements to Joy Sports.
The Black Stars were paired against Portugal, Uruguay, and Korea Republic
Ghana will face Portugal in their opening Group H game at the 2022 World Cup.
