Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed disappointment in his players’ performance following their 1-0 defeat to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second round.
The Porcupine Warriors fell short at the Accra Sports Stadium, with goalkeeper Mohammed Camara receiving a red card in the second half to compound their woes.
Speaking after the match, Zito admitted that while the team’s overall performance wasn’t entirely poor, it failed to meet his expectations.
“I’m now going into their psyche to see why they played the way they did because it’s not too bad, but this wasn’t what I was expecting from them,” Zito said. “We did a lot of work and they rested a lot.”
Kotoko will need a strong response when they travel to Morocco for the return leg on Friday, October 24, at the Stade Mohammed V.
