The Zambian government will foot  Zambia’s 2014 World Cup preparations for the September 6 clash against Ghana in Kumasi.
Zambia’s deputy minister of sport Chinga Miyutu told Parliament in Lusaka on Tuesday that government was doing its utmost to help the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) in its quest to see the team qualify for next year’s Brazil finals.
“The Government will continue to support the team until it qualifies to the World Cup in Brazil,” Miyutu said.
“FAZ had put in place some preparatory measures for the friendly game against Namibia and plans are under way to camp the team in West Africa.”
Zambia, who have never qualified to the FIFA World Cup, are second in Group D on 11 points, one behind leaders Ghana ahead of the two side crucial September showdown that the visitors must win to advance to the final round.
