Zambia end Ghana’s Futsal AFCON bid

Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations were dashed after a 2-0 defeat to Zambia in Lusaka on Sunday.

The return leg was played in front of a lively home crowd, with the hosts building on the dramatic 6-6 draw recorded in Cape Coast.

Needing a big performance away from home, the Black Stallions approached the contest with belief and urgency.

However, Zambia showed greater composure and control as the game progressed.

Two decisive goals from the hosts proved enough to swing the tie firmly in their favour.

Ghana pushed for a response but struggled to break through a disciplined Zambian setup.

At the final whistle, Zambia sealed qualification with an 8-6 aggregate victory across both legs.

The win books the Zambians a place at the next CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations.

For Ghana, the result brings an abrupt end to a campaign that promised much after the high-scoring first leg.

Attention will now shift to rebuilding, with eyes set on mounting a stronger challenge ahead of the 2028 qualifiers.
