Yusif Basigi encourages ex-female football stars to take up roles in management

Head coach of Ghana’s female senior national team the Black Queens, Yusif Basigi wants to see ex-female footballers taking up positions in coaching and the management of football.

The long serving Black Queens coach believes that the development of the female game must correspond with a number of females handling the teams either as coaches of management members.

“FIFA is currently encouraging more women to go into football and other administrative aspects but I will prefer they go into coaching,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com

“We have the like of Dorah Zuta and Edna Yarkeh who are already into coaching but we need to encourage more to also take up the task.

“If we are able to get them into the system, it will help because they will bring their playing experience to the fore,” he added.

Yusif Basigi has been the head coach of the Black Queens for over three years and guided them to win silver in the Women’s AFCON in Cameroon last year.
