Midfielder Isaac Cofie says he is now mature and tactically astute after earning his second Ghana call-up.Â
The 21-year-old has been named in Kwesi Appiah’s 25-man squad for next month’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
Appiah was the man who handed him his debut call-up in September last year for two assignments.
Cofie was not fielded in the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi but earned his first cap against Liberia in a friendly in Monrovia.
“I now have more self confidence after a whole year in the Serie A. I have also been consistent, learnt a lot tactically but there is more room for improvement,” Cofie told MTNFootball.com
“I am very happy and honoured to be part of the team to represent my country.”
Cofie made 27 appearances and scored two goals in the just concluded Serie A campaign where Chievo finished 12th.
“Personally, I would say it is been a very positive season considering it being my first year in the Serie A,” he added.
“I had more playing time and we were able to achieve our objective as a team.”
Cofie moved to Italy in 2010 and signed for Genoa where he made his Serie A debut in May.
He was later loaned out to Torino, Piacenza and Sassuolo before signing for Chievo in July last year.
