Young Apostles continued their strong start to the Ghana Premier League season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Wenchi Park on Sunday.
Goals from Issah Hussein and captain Randy Abubakar on either side of halftime secured all three points for the hosts, who have now moved into the top four.
The home side started brightly, with Samuel Prempeh coming close to opening the scoring early on before Holy Stars’ Issah Yakubu was booked for a rash challenge. Young Apostles eventually broke the deadlock midway through the first half when Hussein rose highest to head home from a corner.
After the break, Young Apostles maintained their dominance, with Abubakar leading by example in midfield. His persistence paid off in the 67th minute when he powered in a long-range effort to make it 2-0.
Despite late attempts from Holy Stars, the home side held firm to record a second consecutive win and maintain their unbeaten run at Wenchi Park
