Antoine Semenyo’s move to Manchester City has been given added emotional weight after club legend Yaya Touré welcomed him with a heartfelt message.
Semenyo will don the iconic number 42 shirt at the Etihad Stadium, a jersey deeply rooted in the club’s modern history.
It was worn by Touré, the dominant midfielder whose influence powered City to their first Premier League title in 2012.
“Hi, Antoine! A short message to say congratulations on your move to #ManCity,” Toure said in a video.
” An incredible move and achievement! The number 42 is a very special number and I’m proud you have chosen this jersey, knowing it will continue East African heritage – and I know it’s in exceptional hands. All the very best!”
The Ghanaian winger completed a £65 million switch from AFC Bournemouth in January, signing a five-and-a-half-year deal that runs until 2031.
