World Cup 2022: Why Ghana and Uruguay did not do well in Group H

Despite the fact that Portugal secured their qualifying after only two games, Group H was a hotly contested group. However, all three other teams had a chance to advance to the final game, and it was South Korea who accomplished the improbable by defeating Portugal.

South Korea advanced to the round of 16 after a stunning 2-1 comeback win over Portugal. Uruguay had the same amount of points (four) and the same goal difference (zero). The Asian heavyweights, however, qualified because they scored two more goals than the South Americans.

Ghana, meanwhile, performed admirably for a team that entered the World Cup as the lowest-ranked nation, earning three points by defeating South Korea. They were unable to exact their long-awaited retaliation against Uruguay in the last round of games, which would have ensured their own qualifying.

Uruguay:

Uruguay entered the World Cup with one of the strongest attacking units, but to be honest, they looked lifeless going forward. The experienced combo of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are definitely beyond their prime, while Darwin Nunez had a forgettable World Cup campaign. Furthermore, Diego Alonso’s defensive tactics proved costly as Uruguay struggled to generate enough opportunities against South Korea and Portugal.

Ghana:

Ghana looked impressive at the World Cup, particularly in the front line. Mohammed Kudus, in particular, and the Alidu Seidu had a fantastic campaign. Ghana paid the price for a lack of experience in midfield, as they were unable to dominate a single game. Despite scoring more goals than both South Korea and Uruguay, Ghana finished bottom in their group and might have done far better defensively.
